Bryn Mawr's Silverman to Become New Earlham Library Director

RICHMOND, Ind. — President Douglas C. Bennett has announced that Scott Silverman has been named Library Director and Coordinator of Information Services at Earlham College. Silverman was most recently Director of the Nodes/Licensing and Budget Coordinator for Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
Scott Silverman: Earlham's new Library Director and Coordinator of Information Services begins his tenure in August.Silverman has worked at Bryn Mawr, in a succession of different and progressively more responsible positions, since 1984. For much of this time he has also held positions of responsibility within the Tri-College Library Consortium (Trico) that serves library and information services needs for Bryn Mawr, Haverford and Swarthmore colleges.
Silverman holds a B.A. (Drew) and an M.A. in History (Bryn Mawr) and a Master of Science in Library and Information Service from Drexel University. Silverman was the 2004 Library Journal non-fiction book reviewer of the year and served on the American Library Association's Notable Council from 2004 to 2006. In 2008 he also completed the Frye Leadership Institute, a program designed to develop the next generation of higher education leaders emerging from IT and library backgrounds.
He is married, has two children, and is a member of Lansdowne (Friends) Monthly Meeting in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.
"I am delighted to be coming to Earlham," says Silverman, "and to immerse myself in the life of this exciting learning community."
Silverman replaces Tom Kirk ‘65 who will retire this summer after a long and distinguished service to the College. Kirk served as Science Librarian from 1965 to 1979. He rejoined the College in 1994 as College Librarian, a position which was later expanded to Library Director and Coordinator of Information Services.
Silverman begins his new position on August 1.
