RICHMOND, Ind. -- President Douglas C. Bennett has announced that Cheryl L. Presley has been named Vice President and Dean of Student Development at Earlham College. Presley was most recently Vice President for Student Affairs at Boston College.
Prior to her seven-year tenure at Boston College, Presley spent a decade at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo., first as Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, then as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. Additionally, she also held several positions at Metropolitan State College in Denver, Colo.
“I am extremely excited to join the Earlham community as Vice President and Dean of Student Development,” says Presley. “I’m looking forward to working with the students, administrative faculty, teaching faculty and staff. It’s an honor for me to become part of the Earlham College family.”
Presley holds B.A. and M.Ed. degrees from Colorado State University and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. In 2008, she received the Mary E. Tobin Award from the Massachusetts Association for Women in Education and in 2006 the Women’s Resource Center and Women’s Studies Program recognized her for Outstanding Contributions to the Boston College community. Presley was also a recipient of Colorado State University’s Dr. Blanche Mitchell Hughes Distinguished Faculty/Staff Award for two consecutive years and also received the university’s Minority Distinguished Service Award.
“I appreciate Earlham’s history and commitment to providing educational opportunities and experiences for its students and graduates to serve and make a difference wherever they go,” she noted.
Presley replaces Deb McNish who served as Dean of Student Development at the College for 10 years.
She begins her new position on August 1.
