Giant Beaver

The scientific name of the giant beaver is Castoroides ohioensis. Our skeleton is among the most complete specimens in the world.

The Joseph Moore House was built by Joseph Moore in the 1880s just to the east of the College campus on newly-graded Central Avenue (now College Avenue).

Joseph Moore House today.The house remained in the Moore family until 1968 and the College purchased it in 2001. Substantially unchanged since it was constructed, the College undertook a conscientious preservation efforts on the exterior and interior of the house, preparing it as the new home for the Office of Public Affairs, which took up residence in February 2006.

The house remains a welcoming memorial to Joseph Moore and his family and their contributions to Earlham.
