EC in History

The oldest building on campus is the Old Observatory, nestled between Landrum Bolling Center and Carpenter Hall. While it is in the center of a bustling area on campus today, when it was constructed in 1861, it was far away from the action. The first observatory on a college campus in Indiana, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Fulbright to Fund Translation Project

June 10, 2008
A Fulbright Scholarship will allow Colin Haywood ’08 the opportunity to contribute Japanese literature to the English-speaking world. During the yearlong project, Haywood hopes to translate Higuchi Ichiyo’s poetry. Eventually he plans to translate the author’s complete works.

Grad Makes His Way from Earlham to the Met

Harry Perez '08 was one of only 12 interns selected from more than 900 applicants for a prestigious internship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Perez had applied for an internship in the Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas department, but because the lead curator of that department will be away this summer, Perez will intern in Public Relations.

UWC Scholars Leave a Legacy of Diversity as Class of 2008 Graduates from Earlham

Among those celebrating their academic achievements during Earlham's Baccalaureate and Commencement on Saturday, May 3 will be the College’s first graduating group of Davis United World College Scholars. Earlham's Class of 2008 is made up of students from 37 U.S. states and 24 countries, including 11 Davis Scholars.
