EC in History

The oldest building on campus is the Old Observatory, nestled between Landrum Bolling Center and Carpenter Hall. While it is in the center of a bustling area on campus today, when it was constructed in 1861, it was far away from the action. The first observatory on a college campus in Indiana, it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

EC Organ on its Way to the Bolivian Jungle

Earlham College has become an organ donor. The Barckhoff tracker pipe organ that has graced the front of Runyan Center's Hancock Room since 1983 has been dismantled and is on its way to the tropical lowlands of Santiago, Bolivia, thanks to the efforts of several EC alums.

Worldwide Engagement Still a Proud Hallmark as Earlham Begins its Academic Year

For the 2009-10 academic year, the College again draws on a tradition of increasing the international flavor of the campus with 180 international students from 74 countries expected to begin classes. A new athletics Web site, new faces in Student Development and the library and a newly refurbished Earlham Hall will greet students upon their return to campus for Earlham's 163rd academic year.

The College's Emergency Readiness and Response Planning (ERRP) committee began formulating pandemic flu plans as soon as the virus was isolated in the Spring and continues to monitor the situation.
